Photos of the House that Chevron Is Paying $6,000 a Month to Hide Diego Borja

Chevron has kept its longtime contractor, Diego Borja, and his family hidden away at this $6,000-a-month house located near Chevron's corporate headquarters in San Ramon, California. Borja has made all public statements through his Chevron-selected and Chevron-funded attorney, Cristina Arguedas, a high-profile, San Francisco criminal defense attorney.

In June 2009, Chevron paid to relocate Borja and his family to the United States, three months before releasing Borja's secretly-recorded videotapes on YouTube. In the audiotapes, Borja told his childhood friend Santiago Escobar that Chevron is paying for all of his expenses. Borja claimed to have been making $10,000 per month while living in Ecuador, and said that Chevron is paying him an amount that allows him to live at the same level in the United States. In addition to paying for his rent, Chevron is covering his expenses for a Saturn SUV and security guards. His house is located in a gated community and borders a golf course. He has a swimming pool.
