Throw a CRUDE House Party!
Amazon Watch and Rainforest Action Network are working together to force Chevron to clean up its pollution in Ecuador, and compensate local communities for their decades of suffering.
CRUDE documents not only the devastation Chevron (then Texaco) has wrought in the region, but also the communities’ 16-year struggle for justice in the Ecuadorean court. Chevron continues to use the dirtiest tricks in the books to delay and corrupt the legal process to avoid paying $27 billion in damages.
By hosting a CRUDE screening:
1. You help tell the stories Chevron doesn’t want the world to hear
The more people that see CRUDE, the less Chevron is able to hide from their responsibility, and the more likely they will have to clean up the largest oil-related environmental disaster on Earth.
2. You raise crucial funds to support the people of Ecuador.
Asking for donations at your CRUDE screening will help bring affected people from Ecuador to the US for Chevron’s annual meeting. It is necessary for Ecuadorean people to directly tell their story to Chevron shareholders, media and policy makers, and the decision-makers at Chevron who hold the power to clean up their homeland.
3. You help build a movement powerful enough to change Chevron!
In order to change Chevron, one of the largest and dirtiest oil companies one the planet, we need to build a movement a million times more powerful than them. CRUDE will educate and inspire thousands of people to commit to changing Chevron in the coming weeks and months.
All you have to do is screen the movie CRUDE, invite as many people as you can, and encourage anyone interested to volunteer or donate to the Clean Up Ecuador Campaign. With your help, we will hold Chevron accountable!
Disclaimer: Please read before organizing your screening
CRUDE's Director Joe Berlinger and the film's distributor First Run Features have kindly granted Amazon Watch and Rainforest Action Network (RAN) permission to make CRUDE available for small private screenings of the film to educate our supporters about the impact of Chevron's contamination in Ecuador's Amazon rainforest*. Large public screenings at schools and theaters, for instance, are not covered in our agreement. If you would like to organize a public screening at a theater on your campus or in your community, or make the film available in your library, please contact First Run Features for the rights. Please do not copy or re-distribute the film in any form. Thank you.
* CRUDE screenings listed as 'public' on the Amazon Watch/RAN online event system means that they are open to any local supporters of Amazon Watch or RAN or the campaign to clean up Ecuador. This is encouraged!
