What are you going to do about John Watson?  Nearly a year after taking the helm of Chevron Corporation, Chairman and CEO John Watson has shown an alarming lack of leadership and vision, failing even to take small strides towards resolving the ongoing environmental and human tragedy in Ecuador.

With more than $27 billion at stake for Chevron shareholders, and thousands of people suffering in the Amazon rainforest, this is a time for bold, solution-oriented action.  But all we have seen from Mr. Watson is an expensive, ethically indefensible campaign to prolong the Ecuador disaster for years to come.

For too long, the Chevron Board has allowed the company's management to pursue a dead-end approach to the Ecuador disaster, waging a relentless public relations campaign to malign the people demanding environmental cleanup while hiding its liability.

But now, as you've surely seen from recent press around the issue -- including a Fox Business story entitled, "Chevron Down as It Continues to Fight 27B Environmental Lawsuit in Ecuador" --  the Ecuador case has become a poison pill for shareholder value.

The Board must intervene to end the company's risky strategy of concealing Chevron's massive liability in Ecuador from regulators, shareholders, investors, and the public.

Furthermore, you have the moral responsibility to lead the company to resolve the ongoing environmental and human tragedy in Ecuador.

Chevron's current approach to the Ecuador disaster is a dead-end but you are in the driver's seat.
